The BK Group of Companies is looking to transform air travel and connectivity to Bartica and the rest of Region Seven when it completes construction of its new $2.5 Billion Airport terminal in Bartica.
President Irfaan Ali joined company officials and aviation officials on Sunday to turn the sod for the project.
The President said the project represents the continuous reinvestment of local wealth back into national development. He hailed the BK Group for consistently expanding its footprint and creating new opportunities across Guyana.
“What we have seen from this Group of Companies, is continuous reinvestment in this country, expanding their footprint, creating jobs and creating opportunities. Their continuous investment in the economy is part of an economic concept—wealth multiplier index, because as you integrate more in your companies and you build core business and expand you are multiplying your wealth index,” the President stated.
In addition, the President said the terminal will become the hub that transports produce from hinterland farmers and businesses to CARICOM countries.
“This new hub, will save at a minimum, 20 mins on interior and hinterland air connectivity, that will reduce operational cost by at least one-third of its current cost, with operators positioning themselves out of this new facility,” the President said.

Meanwhile, Head of Jags Aviation, Alana Tiwari, said the investment will compliment national development even as the BK Group is seeking to expand its footprint.
Among other things, she said the new facility will serve as a one stop shop for travelers.
“This development will feature designated areas for commercial, restaurants, cafe, approximately 50 rooms, aviation training facilities and area for medical purposes. To understand its size, it will be double that of our current hanger at Ogle. This expansion is also set to compliment and support the world-class gold-course that will soon be constructed here in Bartica,” Tiwari noted.
Tiwari said the BK group stands as a testament to what local companies can achieve when they are given space to support and grow.
