Georgetown City Council provided with digital solution to connect people with municipal services

Local company, Ceperia Global Inc, and its Canadian counterpart, VertAcc Solutions Inc, today presented the Georgetown City Council with a digital solution designed to connect people with municipal services, businesses, the transformation sector and other critical services.

Ceperia operates “OneCivic”, which is the digital city platform that allows people to access services from the palm of their hands.

Chief Executive Officer of VertAcc Solutions Inc and the Co-founder of OneCivic, Ghassan Sagga told the Council that the platform was built for Guyana and will provide citizens with free access to a community and a menu of services.

“You have beautiful products in Guyana, really exotic stuff when you walk around [but] it needs to be showcased to the world but also locally. So, we are going to launch on September 1, the market place but it is open now for registration. It doesn’t matter if you have a business registration or you are just a small craft person, who is creating products and want to put it on the website, you can easily open an account, upload images of what you are selling, put the price, and we could ship that product directly to international markets,” he explained.

Sagga said through the platform, local businesses will be able to connect with international investors, and the company will provide the tools and resources necessary to ensure that successful agreements are reached.

Sagga said the platform also features a “civic suite”, which is a section he believes will be of significant help to the council in allowing citizens to access municipal services.

“We have a problem with the trash. You have a beautiful city and I think we need to motivate the people to stop. If you are sitting on the seawall don’t leave that bucket of chicken, don’t leave the alcohol, don’t leave the trash…So, we created an incentive programme – if you do community service and take a photo of it, we will give you rewards,” Sagga explained.

The company official said through “OneCivic”, he will be working with the Mayor and City Council to have the civic suite and OneCivic Rewards initiative materialized.

As a show of gratitude, Sagga also presented the City Council with a specially designed system that will allow the Council to manage its income and expenditures, and assets.
