All theories and possibilities being examined in Adriana Younge investigations -says Crime Chief

Crime Chief and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Wendell Blanhum today said all evidence in the Adriana Younge Case will be evaluated and examined against competing theories and possibilities before the case file is sent to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for a legal opinion.

Mr. Blanhum was swarmed by reporters today for an update on the Police investigations into the death of the 11-year-old girl at the Double Day Hotel in Tuschen.

He said the investigations remain active, and evidence is still being gathered by the investigators. He assured that nothing will be disregarded.

“The investigators, they were instructed not to disregard any evidence whatsoever, so after the evidence gathering stage, what they are going to do is to evaluate and examine the evidence against some competing theories and possibilities,” he explained.

As part of the evidence gathering, the Police investigators have been interviewing witnesses persons who were present at the Double Day Hotel on the day that Adriana Younge went missing.

“We have taken statements from a substantial amount of persons. Today, we are to interview two other persons who were at the police, on the day that Adriana went missing,” the Crime Chief said.

The Crime Chief declined to disclose whether the investigators have secured a statement from a swimming instructor, who the family of Adriana Younge said was at the pool on the day of the disappearance and assisted family members in their searches.

Mr. Blanhum said various photographs and video recordings are being closely examined.

“Investigators are in possession of video evidence and as we speak our forensic investigators, they going through the video evidence to garner as much information as possible as to what transpired on the day in question,” he said.

Water samples from the pool have also been sent for testing overseas, the Police disclosed last week.

However, the Crime Chief told reporters that he could not provide details as it relates to when the samples were taken from the pool, but he knows testing is being done on the samples.

He said once the investigation is completed, the file will be sent to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution.

“We are examining every detail on the day in question. Every information, every evidence will be examined and evaluated and at the end of the day we are going to send our case file to the DPP for her to give her legal opinion,” he said.

The family of Adriana Younge is still to announce a date for her funeral. The family’s Attorney said the family has stated that there will be no funeral information until they are satisfied that the investigations are being done thoroughly.
