The Ministry of Home Affairs announced this morning that the Government has secured the services of retired member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Leonard Mc Coshen to assist with the investigations into the death of 11-year-old Adriana Younge, whose lifeless body was discovered in a pool at the Double Day Hotel two weeks ago.
Mc Coshen is a trained and qualified homicide and suspicious death investigator, with more than 30 years of experience as an investigator of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
The statement from the Home Affairs Ministry also indicated that he has spent more than 20 years attached to the Serious Crimes Branch in the Major Crimes Unit of the Canadian Mounted Police.
The Home Affairs Ministry said he brings a wealth of training, qualifications and experience to the ongoing investigations into the death of Adriana Younge.
The family of Adrian Younge has been pushing for an international probe of her death, dissatisfied with the investigations by the Guyana Police Force.
Two Mondays ago, a post-mortem examination carried out by three foreign independent pathologists concluded that Younge died by drowning. However, toxicology tests are still to be completed and samples have been sent abroad for those tests, according to the Police. Additionally, the Police has indicated that water samples from the pool where the child was found were also sent overseas for testing.
