The Canadian homicide investigator, who spent a week in Guyana reviewing the Guyana Police investigations of the death of 11-year-old Adriana Younge has expressed surprise at the level of medical and pathological investigation done on the body of the young girl.
The investigator, Leonard McCoshen, in a summary of his findings provided by the Guyana Police Force, found no evidence of foul play in the investigational information that was provided to him.
In the summary of his findings, McCoshen stated that “in all of my service in the RCMP and since, I had not ever seen this level of medical or pathological effort done on any deceased persons. Having three (3) very highly qualified and experienced pathologists conduct an examination is something that I have never seen or heard of before”.
The first post mortem examination referred to by the investigator was conducted by three foreign pathologists, who concluded that the child died by drowning. The post-mortem examination, according to one of its witnesses, was very meticulous and detailed. It also found no signs of trauma or sexual assault of the 11-year-old girl’s body.
A second post-mortem examination conducted in the United States by the Chief Medical Examiner of Gwinnett County in Georgia found that the first post mortem was done “very competently and thoroughly”, but the Medical Examiner said there is still the need for a thorough probe of the child’s death since drowning would be considered a diagnosis of exclusion.
In his summary of findings, the Canadian investigator said after spending a considerable amount of time reviewing all of the evidence and information that was provided to him, it is his belief that there is no evidence of foul play in this matter by persons named or unnamed “in the investigational information that I was provided”.

He based his belief on video evidence that showed that “no person(s), including Adrianna Younge, were seen leaving, under other than normal circumstances from the area of the Double Day Hotel from the time she arrived until the time that she was noticed to be missing; none of the persons present at the Double Day Hotel saw or recorded in any format, any evidence that Adrianna Younge either left or was taken from the pool area; there was no evidence of foul play, by any persons, named or unnamed found during any of the medical procedures that were done on the body of Adrianna Younge. This included but was not limited to the physical examination of her body by several doctors, an extensive battery of X-Rays and a CT scan; There was no evidence of foul play, by any persons, named or unnamed at any time during the course of this investigation. There is concrete video evidence and no evidence by any people who were interviewed that Bhojnarine Bhola was at the Double Day Hotel during the time that Adrianna Younge was known to be there and be alive on April 23, 2025.”
While praising the work of the investigations done by local investigators into the child’s death, McCoshen noted that if a thorough search had been done of the pool by properly trained and properly equipped people at the onset, “this investigation would have very likely not garnered the international attention and political pressure that it finds itself in today”.
The Guyana Police Force said the Canadian investigator was provided with over four hundred (400) pages of documents and a quantity of digital forensic evidence, in various formats. He spent one week in Guyana reviewing the information, according to the Police. He also met with the family of Adriana Younge and their Attorney during his visit.
Earlier this week, the Guyana Police Force announced the conclusion of its investigations into death of the child, and stated that a file on the probe was being prepared to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.
The body of Adriana Younge was found in the pool of the Double Day Hotel at Tuschen one day after she was reported missing at the same hotel while in the company of family members.
The family has repeatedly stated that the pool was searched on multiple occasions, but those searches came up empty handed.
The child’s death led to several days of protest outside the hotel and in other parts of the country. The hotel was completely gutted by fire during the protests.
With a second autopsy now completed more than a month after Adriana’s death, family members are now moving ahead with plans for her funeral. A date for that funeral is still to be announced.
