“IsWe” to face murder charge this morning

The Linden man, Shaquawn “IsWe” Alleyne, who is accused of murdering his girlfriend and burying her body in his backyard, will appear in Court this morning to face the murder charge.

The Court appearance will be done via Zoom, as the matter will be heard by the Linden Magistrates’ Court.

Th murder charge against Alleyne is coming almost two years after the shooting death of 21-year-old Shonnet Dover, since he went on the run just before the body was found in his backyard. Wanted Bulletins were issued for him in April 2021, but he was only recently arrested in neighbouring Suriname and handed over to local Police last Friday.

In a statement over the weekend, the Guyana Police Force indicated that he has provided information about the murder and has also implicated the dead woman’s sister in assisting him in burying the body. The teenage sister is already facing a charge of accessory to murder.

During his interrogation by local investigators, the murder accused reportedly claimed that he was playing around with a gun when it went off, shooting the girlfriend dead.

He reportedly claimed that with the help of the sister, he buried the woman’s body in the backyard, and later filed a missing person’s report, which triggered several days of searches around the community of Linden.

The murder weapon is still to be recovered by the Police.
