Police investigators are probing the murder of a 40-year-old Mahaica fisherman as they also seek the whereabouts of one of the two suspects.

40-year-old Unity, Mahaica resident Zahir Ali was pronounced dead at the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital last evening after being rushed there with stab wounds to his body.

A police report said the man and his neighbours were not on speaking terms, but last evening two of the neighbours started to stone his house.

An argument ensued between the fisherman and the neighbours as he confronted them on the road. He was reportedly dragged into the neighbour’s yard during the row and moments later he was seen running from the premises covered in blood. He collapsed and was taken to the Mahaicony Hospital.

The incident occurred around 7:20pm.

One of the suspects was immediately arrested by the Police while the other one who escaped from the murder scene is still being sought.
