ANUG teams up with WIN for upcoming elections

A New and United Guyana (ANUG) and the We Invest in Nationhood party (WIN) have announced an alliance agreement for the upcoming elections, which will see ANUG falling under the banner of WIN.

In a joint statement early this morning, the two parties announced that the agreement was signed between the political leader of ANUG, Dr. Mark DeFrance and the political leader of WIN, Azruddin Mohamed.

According to the joint statement, ANUG has officially joined forces with We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) under the WIN banner, to contest the 2025 General and Regional Elections.

The two parties said the step reinforces the “growing strength and momentum of the WIN campaign. With ANUG’s addition under the WIN banner, the movement gains valuable electoral experience and national reach, making ANUG the first political party to officially join the WIN platform”.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to a clean, fair, and respectful campaign, and together, we call on the people of Guyana to be part of this new political direction, the statement added.

“We are confident that this agreement will enhance our collective capacity to deliver meaningful change and marks the beginning of a broader national movement to unify and uplift Guyana”, the two parties said.

An official of WIN made it clear that under the agreement, ANUG is coming under the WIN banner and it is not a coalition agreement.

ANUG was one of three parties that signed a joinder agreement ahead of the 2020 elections. However, the party never got a chance to take up the rotating seat in the National Assembly that they agreed would be shared among the three.

The leader of The New Movement, Dr. Asha Kissoon, whose party picked up the least amount of votes among the three, took up the seat after the Liberty and Justice Party and never gave it up to allow ANUG to move into the Assembly.

ANUG was founded in 2019 ahead of the 2020 elections. It had former PPP Executive and former Speaker of the National Assembly, Ralph Ramkarran as its Presidential Candidate.
