An East Coast Demerara family who took their own jet skis to the Splashmins Resort on Sunday has been thrown into mourning after a tragic accident involving their two jet skis has left their father dead.
Police have identified the dead man as 58-year-old Joseph Mahdeo.
The Police said Mahadeo was accompanied by his wife and daughter and other family members to the Splashmins Resort, and they took their own jet skis.
It was reported that the daughter and a friend boarded one of the jet skis and the father boarded the other one. As they were traversing the waterway at the resort, the two collided with the father hitting his head as he was pitched into the water as a result of the impact.
Family members rushed in and pulled the injured man to safety. He was rushed to the Diamond Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Police said several injuries were noticed on his head and face. A post-mortem examination is to be carried out on the body. Police investigators are probing the matter.
