In wake of the exit of a number of key party members in the past few weeks, Opposition Chief Whip in the National Assembly and longtime PNC Reform member, Christopher Jones has issued a call for the party to be united as it forges ahead as part of the APNU for the upcoming elections.
The PNC Reform is the largest party in A Partnership for National Unity (APNU).
In a statement this afternoon, Mr. Jones said the People’s National Congress (PNC) remains a political party for all seasons and a national institution.
He said while the party continues to face some challenges, as a national institution, its existence and purpose cannot be extinguished overnight.
“There will be low points in our history and trajectory. There will be trials, BUT they will be triumphs. The party will always rebound and survive, because the linchpin of this national institution are people who believe in it and will fight for it to be at its best”.
Jones said the PNC will continue to lead and fight for the Guyanese people and provide the hope that is needed when all may seem lost. He said as part of the APNU alliance, they will muster the strength with to rally the masses, adding that one should not confuse a single defeat with a final defeat.
The statement by Christopher Jones appear to indicate his ongoing support for the PNC Reform and the APNU in the upcoming elections. He is expected to serve as a candidate for the APNU at the elections and play a key role in its election campaign.
