President confident of PPPC victory in 2025 Elections

President Irfaan Ali is confident that his party – the People’s Progressive Party/Civic – will retain power when the General and Regional Elections are held in 2025.

In an interview with a group of journalists and Government PR officials over the weekend, the President said the PPP/C Administration, since taking office in August 2020, has put in the work, and he is therefore confident of the support of the Guyanese people.

“Once the Laws and Constitution provisions are adhered to, we are sure that with the type of work we have done over the last four plus years, with the type of investments in the communities and in the lives of Guyanese, we are very confident that the Guyanese are going to support us overwhelmingly in the next elections,” the President said.

President Ali said his Government has invested heavily in various sectors across the country.

He said there have been notable improvements in the public transportation sector, as the Government addresses the reckless use of the country’s roadways, while building out the necessary infrastructure to improve the flow of traffic and the safe usage of the roads.

“Thousands of road users have been charged. We are moving now into a more electronic system, an electronic ticketing system. We have also ramped up education,” he said.

He said there have also been investments in other sectors, with the Government focusing heavily on Education, Health, and Agriculture.

He said the PPP/C is laser focused on winning the elections, and ensuring that the Laws and Constitution of Guyana are upheld.

However, he said Guyanese must remain vigilant, and learn from lessons of the past.

“It is a reminder to Guyana as to how fragile our democracy could be when you have the wrong people in charge. It is a reminder to Guyana of those persons who disregarded the constitution, who disregarded the rule of law, and we have a collective responsibility as a people and as a nation to embrace a collective will of securing our democracy, securing the rule of law,” the President said.

The President said the PPP/C is “very grateful” to the people, locally, regionally and internationally that ensured that democracy was not eroded during the highly controversial 2020 Elections.
