A 71-year-old pensioner was found dead late Sunday afternoon in his Port Mourant home in Berbice. According to the Police, the elderly man has been identified as Goberdhan Sukram.
He was found in his house with several wounds to his head. The house was ransacked according to the investigators. They believe that the man may have been beaten to death during a robbery. The man lived alone. Investigators are awaiting a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
A few weeks ago in an East Coast village, another pensioner was brutally attacked, raped and murdered under her house at Cove and John. She also lived alone and was 89 years old.
