Police investigators are probing the brutal murder of a Princess Street Lodge woman and her daughter.
The lifeless bodies of 34-year-old Tara Krishram and her 11-year-old daughter were found in a bedroom in the house last evening. The two appeared to have been beaten and slashed to death, according to the Police.
The woman’s Cuban lover who also lived in the same home is the main suspect and is on the run. He has been identified as Joel Rodrigues.
The two were overheard in an argument on Christmas night in the home after the woman returned from visiting a relative.
The bodies were found by the woman’s father who lives in the same house. The elderly man told investigators that he last saw his daughter’s Cuban boyfriend on Christmas night, moments after hearing the two in an argument in the backroom of the house. He said he did not pay much attention to them, since they usually argued.
The father reportedly spent most of Saturday sleeping and it wasn’t until Saturday evening when he was heading out of the house that he realized it was locked from the outside.
The man went to his daughter’s room and it was then that the bodies of his daughter and granddaughter were discovered. An alarm was raised and Police investigators arrived on the scene.
He told investigators that all day he thought that his daughter and granddaughter were out and he did not bother to check on the room until the evening time.
A post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out on the two bodies early in the new week.
