A Better Hope, East Coast Demerara man was hit down by an angry mechanic and dragged for several yards after the two were involved in an argument early Sunday morning.

Dead is 29-year-old David Barclay aka Justin Blake.

According to reports, Barclay was driving his car along Durban Street at around 2 am when he encountered some mechanical problems. He reportedly contacted the mechanic and the mechanic met him at the scene.

The mechanic, whose name has not been provided, was able to fix the problem with the car. However, the two men got into an argument when the mechanic said the cost for the service would be $4000 and Barclay told him that he only had $3,300 at the time.

Eyewitnesses said the furious mechanic jumped into his car and angrily drove off from the scene, hitting down Barclay in the process and dragging his body along the roadway for several yards.

The mechanic sped away from the scene leaving the man’s body along the roadway.

Several persons who were in the area rushed to the man’s aid and took him to the Georgetown Hospital, where he died while receiving treatment in the Emergency Department.

Police investigators have launched a full investigation and are seeking information on the mechanic.

Barclay was a father of two children.
