Cuban national Yoel Rodrigues will appear in Court tomorrow to face murder charges for the beating and slashing deaths of 34-year-old Tara Krishnaran and her 11-year-old daughter.

Rodrigues, who was the woman’s lover, has admitted to murdering the two. The Guyana Police Force received advice today from the Director of Public Prosecutions to proceed with the double murder charge.

The lifeless bodies of the woman and her daughter were found at their Princes Street, Lodge home on Saturday night. Investigators suspect that they might have been murdered sometime between late Friday night and early Saturday morning.

Rodrigues was arrested in Linden after a wanted bulletin was issued by the Police for him. It is believed that he was trying to make his way to Region Nine and over into neighbouring Brazil.

Since his arrest, the man has confessed to the crime and told investigators that he found himself in a fit of rage after the woman wanted to leave the house to visit a friend.

A post-mortem examination found that both the woman and her daughter bore multiple injuries including stab wounds. The autopsy also found that the girl has suffered sexual trauma.

The mother and her Cuban boyfriend started their relationship a year ago and the man moved into their home. The woman’s father who lives in the same house said the two were always involved in arguments.
