A Venezuelan man got lucky today after he pleaded guilty to being in possession of a number of spent shells, and received a 2 year suspended sentence.
The 31-year-old man, Ivor Marquez, was also fined $50,000.
According to the Court documents, Marquez was held on July 6 at Black water landing in the interior region and was found in the possession of two spent shells for 9mm bullets.
He was found not to be the holder of a firearm license and therefore should not have had the items in his possession.
The man admitted in Court that he came to Guyana in search of a better life and would use spent shells to make new bullets. He said he was guilty of the charge.
With that statement, the presiding Magistrate handed down the 2 year suspended sentence along with the fine.
