Man wanted for murder of wife in Sunset Hotel dies of poisoning

More than a month after he went on the run after brutally stabbing his wife to death in the Sunset View Hotel in Georgetown, Corentyne resident Sadesh Appadu, has died.

The man reportedly turned up at the home of a relative recently after ingesting a poisonous substance. He was later found dead.

In a statement last evening, the Guyana Police Force indicated that a post mortem examination revealed that he died from bilateral pulmonary fibrosis, which is suspected to have been caused by poisoning.

His remains have since been handed over to his family for funeral arrangements.

On the 13th November, the lifeless body of Romona Lall was found in a room at the Sunset View Hotel in Kitty. The woman and her husband, Sadesh Appadu had checked in to the hotel the night before.

She was found with multiple stab wounds about her body, and the husband was captured on security video recordings leaving the hotel hours before the discovery of the body.

The two shared a turbulent relationship, according to family members, who revealed that the wife had moved out of the house weeks before, complaining of abuse.

She returned to her family home in Essequibo, However, the husband managed to convince her to travel with him to Georgetown for a night at the hotel and a trip to Berbice. She never made it to Berbice.
