Vendor remanded for murder of wife at East Coast hotel

Four days after the bloodied lifeless body of Kim Halley was found in a room at the Alpha Hotel at Ogle, East Coast Demerara, her husband was charged and remanded to jail for the crime.

The accused, 52-year-old Junior Halley, was not required to enter a plea to the murder charge today when he appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrates’ Court.

The accused was silent throughout his Court appearance and was remanded to prison until the 22nd June 2023.

Last Friday, the Police were summoned to the Alpha Hotel after staff members found the body of Kim Halley in room at the hotel, less than an hour after she and her husband had checked-in.

The staff reported that moments before the body was found, they heard loud screams coming from the room and later saw the woman’s husband leaving the premises.

The man, Junior Halley, surrendered to the Police the same day.

Although the two were at the hotel together, family members said the wife had ended the relationship a few months ago. Its unclear whether there were efforts to rekindle the relationship.
