The wife and other family members of a 46-year-old man who was found dead in a Quamina Street, Georgetown Hotel on Friday afternoon, are calling on the Police to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
The lifeless body of Omar Ally was found in a room at the Quamina Guest House by a receptionist, moments after a loud commotion was heard in the room.
Ally was last seen alive on Friday midday when he left his job at a Main Street store after receiving a call.
According the dead man’s family, the receptionist at the hotel recounted to them that the man had checked into the hotel with a woman on Friday afternoon, but during the course of the afternoon, loud sounds were heard in the room.
The receptionist said when she went to the room, the man’s body was seen on the floor, with the woman standing over it. The receptionist told relatives that the woman claimed that Ally fell and hit his head, and she needed to leave the scene immediately.
As the hotel’s staffers summoned the Police to the scene, the woman jumped from the second floor window of the room onto the roadway, falling to the ground as she landed.
A surveillance video recording showed the woman, clad in a short pants and a brassiere with her blouse in hand, limping away from the scene.
Family members were left shocked and confused when they viewed the video recording, since the woman in the video was someone they knew well. They said she lives opposite the family’s B’ Field, Sophia home, but has not been seen since Friday when the incident occurred.
The man’s daughter, Afeeza Ally, said the family was left even more shocked and confused when the hotel’s staff confirmed to them that their father and the woman seen in the surveillance video, were regular visitors to the hotel, especially on Friday afternoons.
Family members said they noticed a wound to the back of the man’s head and also scratches to his face.
Police investigators were summoned to the scene and launched an investigation.
However, family members have complained that investigators have not provided the family with any update on the man’s death or the efforts to locate the woman who was at the hotel with him when he died.
A post mortem examination is to be conducted on Wednesday.
