Rights of Child Commission demands no stone be left unturned in Adrianna Younge investigation

The Rights of the Child Commission has issued a call on law enforcement, judicial authorities, and social services to act urgently, ensuring no stone is left unturned in the pursuit of truth and justice, as it expressed its outrage over the tragic death of 11-year-old Adrianna Younge.

The young girl’s body was discovered last Thursday morning in the pool of the Double Day Hotel in Tuschen after she was reported missing the day before.

The Commission said Adrianna’s tragic death underscores the urgent need for a swift, transparent, and thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy, adding that it demands that all individuals involved, including alleged perpetrators and institutions responsible for her welfare, be held fully accountable under the law.

“Justice for Adrianna is not negotiable—it is a moral imperative”, the Commission said.

According to the Rights of the Child Commission, the tragedy must galvanise systemic action and the Commission has urged communities, caregivers, and institutions to remain vigilant advocates for children’s safety.

“Report negligence, demand accountability, and prioritise child protection at all levels”, the Commission requested.

The Commission said it will closely monitor the investigation and collaborate with stakeholders to prevent such tragedies. It has also encouraged anyone with information to come forward and assist authorities, adding that “enough is enough”, and Adrianna’s memory should ignite a nation where no child’s right to life and dignity is compromised.

The independent body also reminded the State and government of their obligations under the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child, reiterating the expectation that the matter be handled in keeping with the law and in a transparent manner.

The Commission has extended its condolences to Adrianna’s family, loved ones, and the many communities grappling with her loss.
