As members and supporters of the People’s National Congress Reforma and A Partnership for National Unity started to gather at the Square of the Revolution for the launch of their election campaign on Sunday, PNC Reform Member, Senior Counsel Roysdale Forde announced his full backing of Aubrey Norton for President.
Forde was one of the early challengers to Norton for the position of party leader at the PNC Reform’s last internal elections. However, he bowed out of the election before voting day citing a number of concerns.
In his statement this afternoon on Facebook, Mr. Forde said the upcoming elections should not be taken for granted.
“This election is just not another date on the calendar. It’s a chance to reset our nation’s course, to reclaim dignity, equity, and opportunity for all. That is why I’m proudly endorsing the leadership of Aubrey Norton, our Presidential Candidate, and Juretha Fernandes, our Prime Ministerial Candidate, under the banner of A Partnership for National Unity(APNU)”, he said.
Forde is expected to be among the candidates on the APNU’s list of candidates for the upcoming elections.
He described the APNU’s Presidential Candidate, Aubrey Norton as a man of the people, who is “tested, proven, and grounded in the principles of democracy and national unity”.
According to Forde, Mr. Norton understands the struggles of everyday Guyanese and has spent his lifetime fighting for justice and equal access to opportunity.

He said the Prime Ministerial Candidate brings fresh leadership to the political discourse.
“Juretha brings a breath of fresh leadership. Her vision, integrity, and compassion make her a symbol of modern Guyana, where inclusivity and innovation paved the way forward. Together they are the team Guyana needs, and APNU is certainly the vehicle to take us there”, he said.
Forde said as someone has taken a firm stand for constitutional governance and legal reform and economic unity, he belives an APNU Government will respect the rights of citizens and their voices will be heard.
“The stakes are high, the time is now, and the choice is certainly clear”, he said as he offered his full endorsement of the Norton-Fernandes ticket for the September 1 elections.
