The Deputy Chief Elections Officer (DCEO) of the Guyana Elections Commission, Aneal Giddings, has tendered his resignation from the body.
In a brief telephone interview with News Source today, Mr. Giddings confirmed his resignation, which is set to take effect from January, 2026.
His resignation comes less than three years after he was appointed to the position. He had previously served as GECOM’s Information Technology Manager.
Giddings’ appointment in 2023 had received push back from the three Opposition nominated Commissioners. However, the Chairman of GECOM, Justice (Ret’d) Claudette Singh used her casting vote to hire him for the position.

The DCEO post had been vacant for approximately two years prior to the appointment of Giddings. It was left vacant following the removal of the former DCEO, Roxanne Myers just after the 2020 Elections.
Giddings has experience in implementing and managing electronic systems for national registration and the production of national identification cards. He is trained in software engineering with experience in web-based and desktop-based application design, development, testing and deployment of various technological frameworks.
Additionally, he studied varying aspects of E-governance from DiploFoundation in Malta. Courses included Advanced Infrastructure and Cyber security.
News Source understands that Giddings is expected to take up a key position at the National Data Management Agency.
