The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced that an investigation has been launched into complaints of sexual misconduct at the Guyana Police Force Academy.
In a statement, the Ministry said it has taken note of serious allegations of sexual exploitation, abuse of authority, and misconduct at the Guyana Police Force Academy.
It said upon receipt of the most recent report, the the Administration immediately directed the Criminal Investigation Department and the Office of Professional Responsibility to commence full investigations into the allegations.
The Ministry said it treats such matters with the utmost seriousness and reiterates its zero-tolerance policy for abuse, exploitation, or misconduct within any agency under its oversight.
The Ministry headed by former Magistrate, Oneidge Walrond, warned that any individual—regardless of rank, position, or tenure—found to have engaged in wrongdoing will be charged and held fully accountable under the law.

At the same time, the Ministry said it remains firmly committed to ensuring that due process is observed and that investigations are conducted thoroughly, fairly, and without interference.
Two days ago, a source from the Police Academy complained bitterly about the ongoing sexual abuse of female recruits, with many of them allegedly being forced to perform sex acts on those who should be in charge of them. In a video that was reportedly recorded this past weekend, a Police rank based at the training academy could be seen engaging in a sex act with a young woman, believed to be a young recruit.
Many recruits have complained that the situation has been ongoing and many of their complaints have fallen on deaf ears.
