The man who was caught on camera slapping down a young female employee of a gas station after she refused to assist him with loading his truck with gas cylinders has been fired from his job at the Home Affairs Ministry.
Minister of Home Affairs, Oneidge Walrond, confirmed today that she instructed that Andika Ferrier be terminated from his job at the Ministry of Home Affairs. The man was arrested after the assault, which was caught on camera, but has since been released on station bail.
He is expected to face criminal charges early next week.
Moments after filing a Police complaint, the victim, Ashley Ramascindo, told Opposition Leader Azruddin Mohamed that she has been left traumatized by the assault. She explained that she had just assisted the man with his purchase of several cylinders of cooking gas. She said after she refused to help him load his truck with the gas bottles, and walked away, she was slapped down by the man.
The young woman suffered injuries and had to visit a hospital as she was left in a brief unconscious state. The suspect was later arrested, and told of intended prosecution before being released on station bail.
