The Rose Hall town in Berbice has been plunged into mourning with the double murder of a woman and her son.

The bodies of Melissa Arokium and her son Anthony Arokium were found in their Rose Hall home this midday with multiple chop wounds.

The bodies were discovered by a brother of the dead woman, who immediately raised an alarm.

Police Commander in the area, Senior Superintendent Shivpersaud Bacchus, told News Source that a full investigation has been launched and a suspect is being sought. He said details of the probe cannot be released at this time.

Friends and family members of the woman believe that she was attacked around mid-morning or just before midday. She was reportedly in correspondence with a number of persons via WhatsApp earlier in the morning.

Friends of the dead woman are remembering her on social media as a fun-loving person who was a proud mother who enjoyed spending time with her young son.
