Guyanese man gunned down in New Jersey

Police in Essex County, New Jersey are probing the shooting death of Guyanese, Rayon Shepherd.

According to Police in Newark, the incident took place on Thursday night in Newark’s West Ward.

According to police, at approximately 9:30 p.m, police responded to reports of shots fired near 153 Isabella  Avenue. 

When, Police Units arrived, they found a severely injured, unconscious, and unresponsive male suffering multiple bullet wounds. 

The victim was pronounced dead a short time later. 

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office arrived on the scene and took over the investigation, which remains active and ongoing.  A motive for the crime has not been determined, though investigators are said to be pursuing a number of leads.

A male suspect who has not been named by the Police as yet, is being pursued for the crime.
