“IsWe” committed to stand High Court trial for girlfriend’s murder

25-year-old Shaquawn Alleyne aka “IsWe Boss” has been committed to stand a High Court trial for the murder of his girlfriend, Shawnette Dover.

The preliminary inquiry into the murder case ended today with the presiding Magistrate ruling that sufficient evidence exists for the jury trial.

Alleyne was arrested in Suriname last January and returned to Guyana where he faced the murder charge after being on the run for just over two years.

The body of his girlfriend, Shawnette Dover, was found buried in a shallow grave in his backyard at Wismar, Linden in 2021.

It was a statement from the girlfriend’s teenage sister that led investigators to the body, but by that time, the accused had already left the country.

Following his arrest, the Guyana Police Force in a statement indicated that during interrogation, the accused admitted to the murder, but also implicated the then 15-year-old sister of the dead woman in disposing of the body.

The teenage girl is already facing a charge of accessory to murder.

The murder of 21-year-old Shawnette Dover grabbed national headlines. She was first reported missing by the boyfriend, who initially led search efforts with the woman’s family members for several days, before her body was found.

The two lived together in Wismar, Linden.
