The Ministry of Home Affairs today handed over contracts totaling more than $270 million to three contracting companies that will begin work on the construction of new training facilities for the Police Force’s Academy at Dora, along the Soesdyke/Linden Highway.
The three companies awarded contracts for the job are D&S Construction, Orin’s Supreme, and Green Plains Enterprise.
D&S Construction won a contract totaling just over $102.6 million for the construction of the access way for the facility, while Orin’s Supreme Contracting has been awarded $87.8 million for the construction of the lecture hall.
The barracks at the facility will be constructed by Green Plains Enterprise at a cost of over $84.9 million. The facility at Dora will include modern classrooms and gyms along with an armory and a shooting range.
The Guyana Police Force said the construction of the new facilities is part of a larger initiative that is aimed at enhancing the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the Guyana Police Force.
According to the Police, the Dora Training Facility will be a comprehensive, state-of-the-art Police Academy that sits on over 228 acres of land.
The first phase of development entails the construction of several other key facilities, including a Training Studio, Instructor’s Building, Kitchen and Dining Hall, and a Water Well.
