One week after he shot and killed his ex-girlfriend, Marissa Beete, at her West Demerara home, Security Service owner and Drug trafficking convict, Ghalee Khan appeared at the Wales Magistrates’ Court this morning and was charged for the woman’s murder.
Khan who had been hospitalised for the past week for a self-inflicted gunshot wound was muscled into the Courtroom by two Police Officers and in handcuffs. In the Court, he was not required to enter a plea to the charge that he murdered his ex-girlfriend, Marissa Beete.
Once the charge was read to him and some details of the crime were presented, Khan was remanded to prison. His next Court appearance will be on the 27th May.
Last Tuesday night, 30-year-old Marissa Beete was at home with her mother when Khan showed up at the house. Beete’s mother told investigators that she warned her daughter not to open the door to the man, but the daughter insisted that he just wanted talk.

The mother told investigators that once Khan entered the house, she went to the back of the building and it was moments later that she heard gunshots and rushed back to the front of the house.
In the front she found her daughter lying on the floor and bleeding from the head while Khan stood over her with a gun in hand. The mother said she rushed towards the man and he pushed her away before firing another shot and eventually turning the gun on himself.
The injured woman was rushed to the West Demerara Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Khan was arrested at the house by the Police and taken to the same hospital but was transferred to the Georgetown Hospital for emergency surgery to his head.
The two reportedly shared a relationship for over two years, but it soured a few months ago and the young woman, Marissa Beete, ended it and walked away from the man.
Khan was deported from the US in 2024 after serving a jail sentence for drug trafficking. Once back in Guyana, Khan resuscitated his security company on a smaller scale.
