A 17-year-old young man was rushed to a city hospital yesterday morning after being shot to his chest as he attempted to assist two persons who were being robbed on the Agricola Public Road.
According to a police report, the incident occurred just before 8:30 on Monday morning when 17-year-old, Karim Shivratan noticed that two women were being robbed by two men as a minibus carrying them all stopped on the agricola public road.
The Police release stated that “the two perpetrators had joined a mini-bus at Diamond, EBD, and requested to get off at Agricola. As the vehicle stopped they held up the two passengers Natash Rampersaud, 33 years, and Lalita Narine, 53 years, of Diamond Housing Scheme.”
The men had already relieved the women of their jewelry and money and it was at that time that the teenager attempted to intervene.
He was shot as the gunmen made good their escape. An investigation into the early morning incident is ongoing.
