A 20-year-old man from Baramita, North West District was stabbed to death last evening by his 19-year-old reputed wife, who claims that she attacked the man after she was first attacked by him.
The dead youth has been identified as Kevin Smith, while the name of the 19-year-old suspect has been given as Nadira James.
The two shared a dwelling camp in the same village of Baramita and were in a relationship, according to a Police report.
Investigators reported that the 19-year-old woman told investigators that she returned home after consuming alcohol drinks and found her reputed husband lying in his hammock. However, after noticing her, the man allegedly armed him with a cutlass and lashed the woman to her shoulder.
The Police said the woman retaliated and used a handmade knife that she had in her possession to stab the man to the left side of his chest.
The 20-year-old stumbled away from the camp and collapsed and died nearby. The suspect made her way to the Baramita Police station where she filed a complaint and led investigators back to the scene where her reputed husband was discovered dead.
The woman was taken into custody and a post-mortem examination is to be performed on the man’s remains. Investigations are ongoing.
