The 45-year-old man who shot and killed a 1-year-old baby as retaliation for the baby’s grandmother breaking up with him, remains on the run and the Guyana Police Force will issue an official wanted bulletin for him today.
The suspected murderer has been identified as Mark Angoy of Annandale, East Coast Demerara. He is also believed to be operating a small business in the interior district. Police across the country have been notified to be on the look out for the “baby killer” as it is believed that he might attempt to make his way back into the interior to avoid arrest.
The man was positively identified by his former lover and her daughters as the person who fired several shots into her Annandale home on Sunday afternoon, hitting her one-year-old grand-daughter three times to the body and also injuring a 12-year-old girl.
Angoy reportedly went on the shooting rampage after his ex-lover filed a number of police complaints against him over several threats he made against her when they broke up five weeks ago and she moved out of their home.
The woman told News Source that she left him with everything in the house and wanted to start over with her daughters and grandchild. She said their relationship was a very abusive one which did not appear to be getting any better and so she decided to move on.
On Friday, she filed another police complaint against him after he sent several threatening messages to one of her daughter’s phone and also made a number of threatening phone calls.
The grief-stricken grandmother, said she was in her bedroom on Sunday afternoon when she heard the gunshots in her house. She said as she ran towards the living room, she spotted Angoy with a gun shooting into the house aiming at her youngest daughter and grandchild.
She said he made off from the scene in a waiting motor car. The toddler was pronounced dead at the Georgetown Hospital while the 12-year-old was admitted.
Investigations are continuing.
Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Mark Angoy is asked to contact the nearest police station.
