COLD CASE: Woman charged for husband’s murder 10 years later

Almost 10 years after the gruesome murder of fuel dealer Ramzan Alli, his widow has been charged and remanded to jail for the murder.

The woman, Miliami Alli, appeared before the Chief Magistrate today and was not required to enter a plea to the indictable murder charge.

She is accused of murdering her husband, while being in the company of another person between the 11th and 12th July 2009.

The other accused, a taxi driver, was charged and remanded to jail a few weeks ago. Investigators believe he was hired by the woman to carry out the murder.

In Court today, the woman had a blank look on her face as the charge was read.

She was living in the United States and only returned to Guyana last week after the Police issued a wanted bulletin for her arrest.

She was arrested at the airport when she arrived.

The body of the fuel dealer was found tied up and stashed in the trunk of a rented car that had been abandoned on the East Coast back in 2009.

Investigators got a breakthrough in the cold case recently, resulting in the arrest of the two persons who are believed to have been involved in the murder.
