Couple dies in Eccles Dumpsite road accident

Police investigators are probing a tragic accident that took place along the Eccles Dumpsite Access road this morning, which claimed the lives of 39-year-old Shane Tyndall and his 35-year-old wife, Shabeca Gordon.

At the time of the accident, the car was being driven by the husband, and according to the Police, it appeared as though he was driving at a fast rate when he lost control of the vehicle.

The car, which was owned by the wife, reportedly slammed into the concrete edge of the road and flipped several times along the roadway eventually ending up in a nearby trench and submerging.

A number of persons who witnessed the accident rushed to the scene, and summoned the services of an excavator that was being used on a nearby project to get the car out.

Both husband and wife were pinned in the vehicle and were eventually taken out in an unconscious state.

Emergency Services were summoned but the couple was pronounced dead at the scene. The bodies have since been transferred to a city funeral home.

News Source understands that the wife worked with a waste management company and was heading to the dumpsite on a site visit when the accident occurred. The couple lived in the East Ruimveldt community.

The Traffic Department of the Guyana Police Force continues to encourage drivers and other road users to be cautious on the country’s roadways. Guyana has recorded several road accident deaths since the start of the year.
