Curacao registered Insel Airlines is set to begin service between Guyana and Miami via Aruba from June of this year. It is believed that the airline will initially offer once weekly flights between the two destinations.
Roraima Airways of Guyana will be the ground handling and General Ticket Sales Agent for the new carrier. The airline already flies to a number of Caribbean destinations including Jamaica, St. Maarten and the Dominican Republic. It also serves a number of South American destinations.
The carrier will be operating an MD-80 aircraft which could accommodate up to 157 passengers. All of its flights from Guyana to Miami are expected to have a brief stop over in Aruba. The airline started operations in 2006.
