A 38-year-old domestic worker, who was fingered in a $5.1 Million jewellery heist from her place of work, has been charged.

The woman, Saranie Singh, appeared in Court today and was granted bail in the sum of $250,000 for the larceny charge.

It was stated between May 1 and June 11, 2019 at Houston on the East Bank of the Demerara, the accused stole over $5.1 million worth in jewellery from the homeowner, Deomathie Singh.

An Attorney representing the interest of the accused said his client is innocent of all the charges and was subjected to regular searches whenever she left the home.

In Court today, the woman begged to be granted bail and the Magistrate granted bail in the sum of $250,000.

She will have to return to Court later in the month for the continuation of the matter and will also have to lodge her passport with the Court and make weekly visits to the CID Headquarters.
