The leaders of Forward Guyana, The People’s Movement and the Vigilant Political Action Committee have teamed up for the upcoming elections through the formation of a coalition.
The leaders, Amanza Walton-Desir, Nigel London, and Derwain Bess signed an accord formalizing their coalition this morning, with a promise to work in the interest of the people of Guyana.
They have promised to put service before status, while promoting unity in diversity, equity and inclusion, institutional reform and good governance.
The coalition is now known as the Forward Guyana Movement and its symbol is a steering wheel with the map of Guyana in the centre with the logos of the three individual parties in their different parts of the steering wheel.
According to founder of The People’s Movement, Nigel London, for too long citizens of Guyana have been unrepresented by those they elected. He said his party has always been about restoring dignity to public life and power to the people. He said together with the other two parties, he believes the Forward Guyana Movement can do just that.
“The People’s Movement is certain about the potential that lies when parties collaborate with the nation’s best interest as our focus. The people of our beloved Guyana is able to move forward to a different political experience. Today, I am proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with men and women of courage and principle, not because we agree on everything, but we agree on one thing, on the one thing that really matters, Guyana deserves better”, he said.

Leader of V-PAC, Derwain Bess, said his fight has always been for the people and he has found good partners in the formation of the Forward Guyana Movement. He said he has had his own experiences and hardships in life and that has made him better today. He said across Guyana there is need for renewed hope and a change.
He said “Guyana needs this right here, a movement that is for the people, a movement that is inviting to the people and so its you all, including the ones looking in from across the world, can sit in and say I have an idea an we will listen…we are building this for all of you.
Former APNU+AFC Member of Parliament, Amanza Walton-Desir, who founded Forward Guyana two weeks ago said the coalition with The People’s Movement and V-PAC is one that will dedicate itself to the interest of all citizens. She said its time for the fear-based leadership to end.
“We are here to challenge the system, not challenge each other but challenge the system and we are to disrupt the cycle. We are not just interested in managing it. To lead with integrity and boldness and not with vanity or vengeance. This is not just a political alliance, it is a movement of people who have decided that Guyana’s future cannot be left in the hands of the past. And so we stand united”, she said.
The Forward Guyana Movement has indicated that it will soon launch its campaign and manifesto with information about its plans and programmes. The movement has also stated that it is open to other parties joining the coalition.
