Relatives say they had not heard from him since Sunday and went looking for him this morning when he was discovered dead.

Guyanese national found murdered in Trinidad

(CNC) Police in Trinidad and Tobago are investigating the murder of a Guyanese national who has been living in the twin-island republic for the last 25 years.

Sewkumar Dalchand, 52, was found murdered at his home in Macoya Road Extension Wednesday morning.

The house was ransacked and his vehicle was missing.

His hands and feet were bound.

Relatives say they had not heard from him since Sunday and went looking for him this morning when he was discovered dead.

They say Dalchandwas a wholesale trader who was well known in the community and gave a lot towards the development of the area.

He had come to Trinidad 25 years ago after living a poor life in Guyana and found success here.

Police say that the body was also in an advanced state of decomposition.

The body was taken to the Forensic Science Centre where a post-mortem will be performed to determine the cause of death.

Officers of the Homicide Bureau are continuing investigations.
