In a rare rebuke of the Guyana Police Force, Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo this afternoon declared that he is not buying the Police’s version of the disappearance of 11 year old Adrianna Younge, who went missing from the Double Day Hotel at Tuschen yesterday during an outing with her family.
The 11-year-old girl’s body was found floating in the Hotel’s pool around 10hrs today, although earlier searches found nothing.
At a press conference this afternoon, Mr. Jagdeo said the Police’s initial reaction to the incident is inconsistent and he is shocked with all of the developments.
“We find too many inconsistencies based on what we have heard with the story that have been weaved, so we expect a thorough investigation into the matter, the President has already announced that it will be a complete, detail and through investigation into the circumstances through which this young teenager loss her life,” Jagdeo said.
Mr. Jgadeo said the family and the country should be given answers as to what transpired with the young girl in light of the Police Force’s claim that it has video evidence of the girl leaving the hotel. He wants the Police to release that footage too.

“Now if they have footage, the police, they should immediately release the footage, I don’t know why there is a delay in releasing this footage because this is very inconsistent with the entire story, if you saw footage of the young lady entering into a car, you give a specific car number and the color and make of the car, the release the footage that you view, we as a country and the family want to see that,” Jagdeo said.
The Police has since walked back its initial statement, admitting contained errors.
“And whoever is culpable, if there is a cover up, people will face consequences, we are not going to tolerate this, this young girl should have never loss her life, there will be an investigation and wherever we find transgression there will be consequences,” Jagdeo promised.
The young girl’s body was found hours after intense protests by the Residents of Region 3.
The Government has since announced a special investigation surrounding the girl’s death.
