The prime suspect in the October 2025 Gas Station bombing that claimed the life of six-year-old, Soraya Bourne, told the Court today that he is ready to take responsibility and admit to crime.
The admission by the accused, Venezuelan national, Daniel Alexander Ramirez Poedemo, came as the acting Chief Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty was preparing to commence the Paper Committal proceedings in the terrorism case in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Poedemo, along with three of the other accused – Alexander Bettencourt, Jhonny Boodram and Kystal LaCruz – is facing a terrorism charge in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court while three others – Wayne Corriea and Ramesh Pramdeo and Jennifer Rodriguez are facing a similar charge in the Leonora Magistrates’ Court.
When the case was called today in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, Poedemo assigned Attorney, Shellon Boyce, informed the Court that during an interview with the prime suspect, certain disclosures were made.
It was against that background that the Acting Chief Magistrate sought clarity from the accused on whether he was prepared to “speak and cooperate.”
Speaking through an interpreter, Poedemo told the Court that the final decision rests with the Magistrate, and Attorney, adding that the other accused are not involved in the incident. He said of the persons charged, he was the only one responsible for the act.

“He said he wants to admit to everything. He said yes he was involved in it. He was the person. A Guyanese-Venezuelan or Venezuelan-Guyanese give he the stuff and he do what he had to do. He placed the stuff where he had to place it, the other persons were not involved, just he alone was involved,” the interpreter told the Court on Poedemo’s behalf.
The man maintained that a lot of the persons accused of the crime were not involved, and he wants the case to end so that the innocent people could be freed.
Given the development in the case, the Chief Magistrate (ag) adjourned the case to April 20, 2026 for report from both the assigned Attorney representing the accused and the Prosecutor.
The twist in the case caught the Court by surprise this morning. The accused was arrested back in October 2025, days after an explosion at the Mobil Service station on Regent Street. A young girl who was in a car with her relatives died from the bombing.
The man was captured on camera planting the suspected bomb before making his escape. A motive for the bombing remains unclear.
