The recent trip to Brooklyn, New York by three government ministers and other officials of the APNU+AFC administration to participate in a unity rally was fully funded by the organisers of the rally, according to  Minister of State Joe Harmon, who was also one of the ministers on the trip.

At a post cabinet press briefing on Wednesday, Mr. Harmon said “not blind a cent” of public money was spent on their travel or participation at the political event. He said the organisers covered the cost for air travel and accommodation for the three day visit.

Asked about the President’s one day trip to New York last weekend, Harmon said it was a “private personal trip” for President Granger.  The President left Guyana last Friday morning and returned on Sunday.

Harmon assured that the trip was not medical. He however stated that from time to time, a President would need to take time off for personal callings.

The President’s trip may have been for wardrobe changes.
