A search has been launched to ascertain the whereabouts of a US-based, Guyanese man who went missing while traveling from Lethem close to the Kurupakari crossing on Thursday.

The 50-year-old man, Standford Williams reportedly, unpacked his bags from a bus and walked away moments after the bus made a stop.

Other passengers in the bus said the man started to act strange, moments before he left the bus.

In a post on social media, a family member said the 50-year-old might be suffering from a mental condition.

Relatives are hoping that anyone who may come into contact with him, or knows his whereabouts would contact the nearest Police station or call the family on telephone number 668-2040.

Standford, who lives in Texas, reportedly traveled home to Guyana and spent several months living in the Lethem community.

On the day that he went missing, he was heading to Georgetown and was expected to travel back to the United States soon.
