AFC Chairman David Patterson told a news conference this afternoon that the Alliance will contest the election as an independent party since the two sides were unable to arrive at a “mutually beneficial arrangement.”
He said, however, that the door remains open.
The PNC said it has taken note of the AFC’s position and has also been formally notified of the position.
It said PNCR, and by extension APNU, remains open to talks.
According to the party, should the AFC want to re-engage the APNU in coalition talks or in any joint endeavor, it stands willing and ready for those discussions.
The AFC’s list of demands, included the Presidential Candidate’s position and a 60-40 division of all positions in Government with the AFC getting the 40%.
News Source understands that in its response to those demands, the PNCR indicated that as the largest party in the coalition, it would have to get the Presidential Candidate spot.
