Two weeks after they disappeared from Guyana without a trace, the Guyana Police Force has issued wanted bulletins for convicted and self confessed drug dealer, Barry Dataram and his reputed wife, Anjanine Boodnarine.
It is believed that the two may be hiding out in Suriname. Both Dataram and Boodnarine jumped their $4 Million bail that was granted by the High Court in 2015, as their cocaine possession trial in the Magistrates’ Court was coming to an end two weeks ago.
Magistrate Judy Latchman found Dataram guilty and Boodnarine not guilty in their absence. In his absence, Dataram was also sentenced to five years in jail and fined $164 Million.
The Guyana Police Force in the wanted bulletin issued on Tuesday evening, said the two are wanted by the police for possession of ammunition without licence and possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking which occurred on April 16, 2015, at Lot 661 Block X, 4th Avenue, Diamond Housing Scheme, EBD.
The crimes listed in the bulletin are the same that the two were faced trial for in the Magistrates’ Court.
Local law enforcement agencies are expected to inform Interpol about the wanted bulletin so that an international bulletin could be issued.
President David Granger said the security forces have been instructed to use all legitimate means to get Dataram back in Guyana. Dataram is also wanted in the United States to face drug possession and trafficking charges there. He is a US Citizen.
