Acting Police Commander for A' Division, Calvin Brutus, told the media that it was just after 6:30 on Friday morning that the Police Force was alerted about the incident.

South Ruimveldt man gunned down in Albouystown while trying to pacify feud

Gunshots rang out in the Albouystown community early on Friday morning and when they ended, a South Ruimveldt man was found dead.

The dead man has been identified as 27-year-old Michael Junior Payne of South Ruimveldt.

Acting Police Commander for A’ Division, Calvin Brutus, told the media that it was just after 6:30 on Friday morning that the Police Force was alerted about the incident.

When investigators got to the scene, they found the man lying in a house with a gunshot wound to his forehead, one to his chest in the region of his heart and a third to his lower body.

Police investigators said based on reports that they received, it appeared as though,  Payne and a friend visited the home of an Albouystown resident early this morning to pacify a disagreement that they had last night.

It was during that effort, that Payne was shot.  His assailant’s name has not been confirmed. But persons in the area said the man goes by the call name “beggar”.

Some persons have described the incident as strange and said they hope that the police carries out a thorough investigation.  The friend who accompanied Payne, is to be questioned by lawmen.
