
Police investigators have arrested a suspect as they continue to probe the murder of the Venezuelan woman, whose lifeless body was discovered along the roadway in the New Diamond Housing Development with a bullet wound to the head on Sunday.
The woman has since been identified as Evelyn Alfonzo Alves. She was 23-years-old and was also a mother of three. The Police said she lived in East Street, Georgetown along with her mother, who is Guyanese. She was identified by family members early yesterday morning. Family members told investigators that they last saw the woman alive on Saturday night when she left home.
The body was discovered by construction workers in the area in the New Diamond area.
Two excavator operators told the Police that they were refueling their excavators when they noticed the woman’s body lying face down at the side of the roadway.
Police investigators who were summoned to the area reported that while examining the body, they noticed a bullet wound to the back of the woman’s head, while a 9mm spent shell was discovered a short distance away from the body.
A suspect was arrested on Monday as the Police continued with their investigations and received information that the woman had been threatened by a man recently.
