
Three former staffers of the Balwant Singh Hospital were marched before the Court today facing embezzlement charges related to the theft of millions of dollars from the private hospital.
23-year-old West Bank Demerara resident, Shivannie Guyadeen, during her Court appearance was slapped with the charge of Larceny by a Clerk or Servant. She is accused of stealing more than $14 million from the hospital between the 19th February and the 19th December 2024.
In Court today, Guyadeen entered a not guilty plea to the charge, and was placed on $500,000 bail.
21-year-old Kimberly Prasad from the East Coast of Demerara faced the same larceny charge. She is accused of stealing just over $1 million from the hospital. During her appearance, Prasad pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of $250,000.
Also appearing in Court this morning was 23-year-old West Bank Demerara resident, Randy Persaud. He was charged with stealing $180,000 from the Balwant Singh Hospital on the 19th May.
Like the other two accused, Persaud also pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of $75,000.
Persaud and Guyadeen also faced an additional larceny charge related to the theft of $234,000 from the hospital on the 28th March. They were each granted bail in the sum of $75,000 on the additional charge.
The case against all three accused is set to continue on the 27th January, 2025.
