Three former MediCare Pharmacy employees charged for embezzlement

Three former MediCare Pharmacy employees charged for embezzlement

Three former staff members of the Medicare Pharmacy  were today slapped with embezzling money from the company.

23-year-old Vanwattie Ramnarine of Area D’William, West Coast Demerara, 20-year-old Celina Sookdeo of Good Fortuin, West Coast Demerara and 43-year-old Zalena Khan of East Street, Georgetown were each charged and released on $150,000 bail each.

It is alleged that Ramnarine and Sookdeo between the 16th August 2016 and the 2nd June 2017 fraudulently embezzled $655,000 from Medicare Pharmacy .

The court also heard that Ramnarine and Khan between the 4th May and the 15 June 2017, fraudulently embezzled $1.6M from the same company.

They all pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Police Prosecutor had no objections to bail, but as a requirement of the bail, he asked that the three accused report to the to the Fraud section at the Brickdam Police Station periodically until the completion of the matter.

The three women will make their next court appearance on August 4.
