A jury worked into the night on Wednesday and returned two guilty verdicts against a man who was charged of raping a young girl between the ages of 10 and 13.
The man, Rohan Daniels aka “Shine Buck”, is believed to be in his early 50’s. He stood before Justice Simone Morris-Ramlall, and would only say that he is innocent of the charges.
In response, the Judge said that the man clearly had no remorse and she therefore handed down two life sentences on the man for the two guilty verdicts. He will only become eligible for parole after serving 40 years behind bars.
In a letter to the Court, the man’s victim stated that her life has changed for the worse and she still have dreams of the rape. The victim also explained to the Court that she constantly feels depressed and believes her rapist ought to be put away in jail for life.
That request was granted as the Judge handed down the sentence this evening.
