United Airlines pushes connectivity to multiple destinations with Guyana service launch

United Airlines has started its schedule service between Houston, Texas and Georgetown. With the airline serving more than 150 destinations worldwide, it intends to push the ease of connectivity through the Houston hub for the Guyana market.

At a reception to celebrate the start of the airline’s service to Guyana, United’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning, Patrick Quayle, said United Airlines is here for the longhaul and will offer the best connections to travelers from Guyana.

“It’s more than just flying an airline, it’s more than just figuring out where to fly, it is a partnership. And this route is about partnership and is because of our partnership with our energy partner, ExxonMobil, and its partnership with the Government here and their support…And the beauty of this flight is really about the connectivity, and it allows the connection between the energy capital of the world with the fastest growing economy in the world and on top of that, we serve 192 different cities around the world and you can easily connect to Toronto, Sydney in Australia, London, Tokyo and wherever you want to go”, he said.

US Ambassador to Guyana, Nicole Theriot, highlighted the business links between Guyana and the United States and the role United Airlines will play in that. She said she believes the new route will open up more of the United States to Guyanese travelers.

Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill and Minister within the Ministry of Public Works Deodat Indar, both noted the work that was done behind the scenes to start up the new service for United. They said the Houston-Georgetown connection will become a key one.

United Airlines is the third US-based Airline to join the Guyana route in recent years. American Airlines and Jet Blue currently serve the local market. United will operate four weekly flights between Georgetown and Houston.
